Hydro-Québec doesn’t offer a conversion subsidy.
Before making the switch, you should know that dual energy benefits not only customers with contracts under Rate DT, it also benefits Hydro-Québec customers as a whole, since it helps ensure a better balance between power supply and demand during peak periods, especially during cold snaps.
If you wish to stop subscribing to Rate DT because you haven’t saved money, you should look at the reasons. Instead of abandoning the rate, you could try improving the way you use your dual-energy system to maximize your potential savings. Winters 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 were particularly cold and may have considerably reduced savings. But when winters are milder, like this winter has been so far, customers can see increased savings since the majority of their consumption is billed at the lower Rate DT price. In addition, if you use heating oil as fuel, you’ll benefit from substantial savings since heating oil prices are at their lowest in 5 years.
