Our answer
The amount you play each month under the Equalized Payments Plan (EPP) doesn’t change. It is revised once a year when we compare your actual consumption with the amount estimated a year earlier.
If your consumption is higher than expected, the difference between the estimate and your actual consumption (balance payable) is automatically spread out over the next 12 months, at no cost. If you have used less electricity than anticipated, the amount owed is subtracted from subsequent bills until you have been fully reimbursed.
At the annual review, we determine your monthly installment for the 12 next months. Your monthly installment takes into account various factors, including your consumption history and the average temperatures in your region. It also includes your balance payable, if applicable. These factors can explain why your monthly installment varies from year to year.
However, your monthly amount due may change if you pay an amount other than your monthly installment. For example, if you pay more for a given month, the amount payable the next month will be adjusted. We do not recommend that our customers do this.
You can increase the amount of your monthly installment yourself on your Customer Space, or you can call customer services at 1 888 385-7252 so that we can increase or decrease it for you.
