Other important projects are under way or about to begin.
As for high-voltage transmission lines, we recently launched the Chamouchouane–Bout-de-l’Île project, a 735-kV line that will connect the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region with the Montréal area. It is a major transmission project, of the kind that hasn’t been carried out in twenty years. The clearing of certain sections along the 400-km route of the future line has begun. Construction of the line itself will start at the end of 2016 and commissioning is slated for 2018.
The project’s economic spinoffs for Québec are estimated at $1.1 billion. The equivalent of several hundred full-time jobs will be created in the province over a period of 5 years. At peak periods (2017-2018), more than 1,500 workers will be on the job.
