The applicable rate is determined based on the customer’s use of the electricity delivered (domestic, commercial or industrial use), the quantity of energy consumed and capacity requirements. A residential customer who lives in his or her home and also uses it to carry out a business activity can continue to benefit from the domestic rate (Rate D). However, the installed capacity for purposes other than habitation must not exceed 10 kilowatts. If that limit is exceeded, a general rate will apply.
