Well, we have both!
We do in fact use a software application to manage various operating activities of Hydro-Québec’s network. Evidently, the analysis is carried out by employees who, depending on their analyses, deploy the necessary actions to quickly restore service to customers.
For example, during a power outage, the application makes it possible for us to contain the outages using our remotely-controlled equipment to detect the area where the power has been disrupted. We can then direct our crews to these specific areas to quickly locate equipment failures.
This application uses data transmitted by our next-generation meters and the information received by our customers, who notify us that they have identified failures. This data is quickly relayed to our on-site crews.
The application also serves to assist with the logistics of the Hydro-Québec crews who are working on the network and makes it possible to notify our customers about the service restoration through our Power Outages site and our mobile application. We can also inform our customers by telephone when we plan certain interruptions to maintain our network.
