Naturally, we do not swindle our clients.
The new meters, whether they are electromechanical, radiofrequency or next-generation, have no bearing on the variations in your electricity bills. In fact, fluctuations in temperature and changes in your consumption habits are the main factors that influence your electricity costs. It is important to remember that the past two winters have been extremely harsh. During the winter of 2015, there were 50 days when the temperature was colder than normal, which translated into consumption increases for most of our clients.
All of our meters are approved by Measurement Canada. This independent organization imposes stringent rules on companies in order to guarantee the precision of their measurement systems. Hydro-Québec is therefore required to install meters that meet those standards. Rest assured that the next-generation meters we install are both safe and reliable and they read your actual consumption.
