Power outages are never pleasant. We apologize for the inconvenience this situation may cause and assure you that our crews always do their utmost to restore service as soon as possible. We are also working to improve the quality of electricity service in your region.
Outages can be caused by many things—weather events, animals coming into contact with our power system, car accidents damaging our equipment, and other factors beyond our control. Moreover, an outage in your area may be caused by an event that occurred elsewhere on the network.
Major outages are generally caused by bad weather. Storms, snow, freezing rain and strong winds are some of the main causes of service interruptions. Since the area in which you live is densely wooded, more than half of all outages are caused by branches falling on power lines following bad weather. To improve the situation, we carried out major vegetation control measures between 2013 and 2015. These measures have helped to significantly reduce the number of outages in your MRC.
Nonetheless, the number of outages is still higher in L’Isle-aux-Allumettes than in the rest of the Pontiac MRC. It is important to note that many outages are also caused by disturbances to the transmission system that supplies power to your sector, which is synchronized to the Ontario grid. We are planning to perform work on the system this year to address the situation. Along with our vegetation control measures, this work should help to improve service quality in your sector. We thank you for your patience.
