Our answer
The energy consumed by a cement plan goes mainly to heat its kilns. These kilns absolutely need fuel (coal, petroleum coke, sawdust, used oil, etc.) to produce a flame that burns at nearly 2,000°C, which is essential to the cement plant’s transformation processes.
That being said, cement plants also consume electricity for various purposes, such as lighting and running conveyors.
