Good question! For safety reasons and to reduce the risk of outages, we must cut down diseased or weakened trees that are at risk of falling on our power liens in your municipality.
The identified trees that haven’t yet been felled will be cut down soon. In some cases, we might be waiting from a response from the owner. When a tree is on private land, our forestry technicians contact the property owner to explain the work to be done and obtain authorization before carrying out the work.
Rest assured that we are actively working to raise awareness with owners of trees that pose a risk, since almost 40% of outages are caused by branches or trees that fall on overhead distribution lines. This proportion climbs to 70% in wooded areas such as La Macaza.
