Rate DT features two temperatures that can set off passing from one form of heating to the other: -12 °C or -15 °C, depending on where you live. The applicable temperature is −12 °C except in the following places, where −15 °C is used:
- The northern and western regions (Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d’Or, Nemiscau)
- The northern Lanaudière region
- The area between Saint-Féréol-des-Neiges and Rivière Saguenay
- Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie (except surrounding municipalities that have direct access to the river or Baie des Chaleurs, from Saint-Fabien to Rivière Cascapédia).
You can watch a video explaining Rate DT on Hydro-Québec’s Web site. It includes a map that shows the temperature used for some Québec municipalities. For more information about the temperature that applies in your area, please call our customers services at 1 888 385-7252.
